Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has said that road-users in the region need action from the Scottish Government and not yet more surveys.
The Scottish Conservative MSP made his comments after SNP MSP Kate Forbes announced that she was seeking views on the A82 via an online survey.
Mr Cameron said: "Local people will be bemused to learn that, apparently, they need to respond to yet another survey in order to get some action on the A82."
"We don't need to be told what the problems are with the A82 anymore than we do for the A83 which also desperately requires a permanent solution."
"What we do need is for SNP ministers to recognise that after 13 years in power there is an urgent requirement to make good the years of neglect that have led to repeated road closures and constant uncertainty for local residents and businesses."
"Kate Forbes is the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and has the means to take action. She should get on with fixing our roads without further delay."
HCUA Comment:
We have been waiting well over a year now for Forbes' useless colleague Matheson to make a decision on the Compulsory Purchase Orders for the first phase of the A96 dualling. Matheson is sitting on the decision because the SNP has made such a mess of the Scottish economy and dozens of infrastructure projects (especially across health and transport) that Scotland cannot afford any new road building until the UK Government provides yet more funds to bail out SNP fiscal failure. Forbes' unnecessary A82 survey is just another cynical SNP ploy to make it look like Sturgeon is interested in the Highlands.
