NHS Highland has confirmed that their contract with Hospedia, who deliver Hospital TV, will expire on 17 January 2020.
Edward Mountain, who launched a campaign for Fairer Hospital TV Charges in January 2019, is delighted that the rip-off charges are coming to an end.
Hospedia, the company responsible for providing bedside televisions in Raigmore Hospital, charges patients up to £9.90 per day or £24.90 for 3 days for the TV and Movies package.
Edward Mountain had secured an undertaking from the Health Secretary that she would work with NHS Highland to secure the ‘best value’ when the contract for bedside television comes up for renewal.
Edward Mountain MSP commented:
“This is excellent news. After a long campaign calling for Hospital TV charges to be scrapped I am delighted these rip-off charges are going.
What is now important is that all patients have access to free television at their bedside either by fixed unit or via WiFi and NHS Highland and the Scottish Government must work to ensure they do.”
